Classroom Rules

The following applies to all my classes.

1. Be quiet, listen and think. Frequently, you will need to let others do the talking. Either I will be speaking, or your classmates will. Respect the right of others to make their opinions known, listen to their words carefully, and think them through. They might be useful.
2. When the time comes, speak. There will come moments in every lesson when I will invite you to contribute ideas. Express yourself. Let others know what you think and feel. Don’t be afraid to stand up for your own opinions.

3. Hand in your work punctually. You are in school to develop your mind. You can’t develop to your full potential unless you put in work on a regular basis. Therefore, stick to the schedule and deadlines I give you, and train your brain on a regular, systematic basis.

4. Don’t fidget. The classroom is a place for listening, learning and thinking; it contains fragile items like computers and tables that can break easily. The courtyard, the field, and the basketball court are places where you exercise your physical abilities. Keep this difference always in mind.

5. Don’t worry. Be at ease. I want to help you enjoy learning the English language and literature. Come to class ready to participate and contribute; come to class with an open mind.
